The index in this publication has been compiled from the first two Items.

Not included in the indexes is extra information such as name of the doctor, the minister officiating at the burial, religion, cause of death, other family relationships, and any extra services provided by the undertakers - for example, the number of 'motor hearses' required for the funeral service. Where further information has been recorded in the registers, this is indicated with a plus sign ( +) in the Remarks Column of the index, but it should be noted that in some instances the only extra information is the name of the doctor or officiating minister. If the 'cause of death' is given, this is indicated with a hash sign (#).

Many stillborn babies are recorded in the books, sometimes with surname only. Some stillborn babies' names are not recorded at all and are indexed as UNNAMED. Details of these events may explain large 'gaps' in family structures. The names of unmarried mothers are not revealed here.
