History and Recollections

1783–2001

‘Winspear’ is about five generations of Winspears who originated in Warkworth, Northumberland until some family members eventually emigrated to the north-west coast of Van Diemen’s Land.  Aptly, their property at East Devonport was named ‘Warkworth.’

Other major family names featured in this work are:

WARDLE, DEAN, BATTY, BROADHEAD, ROGERS and STEWART.

The book is well endowed with photographs of the early ‘Winspear’ pioneers, both from Northumberland and Tasmania.
