Royal Marine

Soon after the Publication of the author's first book, Sergeant Samuel Thorne A Royal Marine in the Napoleonic wars and a first settler at Port Phillip and Hobart Town, the origins of James Ward became clearer - he was a convict whose baptismal name was James Butler.  Yet attempts to find out more about him failed.  To attempt to finally resolve the issue the author asked a researcher in London to see if she could find James Ward's family and she succeeded admirably.  Further research led to the production of this volume.
